SAKURA Paradise

Cherry blossoms at Satoyama
One of Japan’s great pleasures, hanami or ‘cherry blossom viewing,’ has become well-beloved around the world. If you are fortunate enough to be visiting Uchiko during the late March or early April period, then there are several viewing spots that are not to be missed. There are many otherworldly trees amidst the rural landscape to capture your imagination, and you can choose your favourite or you can have a local tour guide show you several along the river in the Satoyama area. There is the Weeping Cherry Tree of Nomura, Yuge Shrine, Okubi Pond, and even more sight-seeing along this route, which includes lunch at a local restaurant, a complimentary drink, and an Uchiko-made washcloth.
However, you choose to enjoy your hanami, make sure to bring good walking shoes and a camera, as well as your favourite drink to sit and enjoy the quietude and peaceful rejuvenation of the soft pink and white sakura blossoms!
