Summer-Only “Takigyo” Waterfall Meditation Experience Now Open for Reservations

Escape into the untouched nature of the Misogi district in Uchiko and refresh both body and mind through a unique waterfall purification experience at Momijigataki Falls.

Hidden deep within a traditional satoyama landscape, this special summer activity invites participants to stand beneath a 17-meter waterfall and let the rushing water wash away stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue.

The name “Misogi” itself refers to purification, and for generations this area has been regarded as a spiritual place where people came to pray for protection from misfortune. Surrounded by lush greenery and far removed from daily life, the atmosphere around the waterfall feels almost like another world — a place where unnecessary thoughts quietly disappear into the flowing water.

This program is ideal for anyone seeking clarity, emotional reset, or simply a deeper connection with nature. Feel the powerful energy of Misogi with your entire body as tension melts away beneath the falls.

Even first-time participants can join with confidence. The experience includes:

• White training garments rental
• Guidance from a local English-speaking assistant
• Changing rooms, showers, and restrooms
• Towels and necessary equipment

No special preparation is required — just come as you are.

In addition to the waterfall experience itself, guests will also explore the charming Misogi area with its traditional village scenery, covered bridges, local shops, hidden countryside paths, and scenic photo spots known mostly to locals.

Operating Period: June 27 – October 13, 2026
Price: 15,000 per person (English-speaking guide & tax included)

Private Group Option (Limited to One Group):
+¥4,000 for groups of up to 4 people wishing to book the experience privately.
(Please note that this option may not be available if other reservations have already been made.)
