Kura is a beautifully restored storehouse dating back to the late Meiji period (1868–1912), once part of a prosperous kimono merchant’s residence. Originally used to store goods, the building has been carefully renovated into a unique accommodation that preserves its historic character while offering modern comfort.
The property consists of two maisonette-style guesthouses arranged side by side, each with its own private garden. Surrounded by the solid pillars and beams that tell the story of its past, guests can enjoy a quiet and restful stay in a space that feels both protected and timeless.
Large windows fill the interior with natural light and offer views of the garden, creating a strong connection to the outdoors. The warm use of wood throughout the space adds to the calm and inviting atmosphere. Guests can relax while enjoying views of the garden.
Upstairs, the spacious bedroom features impressive exposed beams, giving the room the feel of a mountain lodge retreat. A hinoki (cypress) bath is also available, offering a soothing way to unwind after a day of exploring.
Blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with comfort and functionality, Kura provides a special place to slow down and experience a different sense of time.
